I had a positive experience even though I faced some challenges. Engaging with this new mode of instruction has been a journey that has expanded my teaching abilities and pushed me to explore innovative approaches to teaching. Throughout this blog post, i will discuss what I enjoyed and disliked about online teaching, the new skills I acquired, areas for improvement, the appropriateness of my chosen digital tools, and the impact of this experience on my development as a teacher.
One of the aspects that I really enjoyed was the incorporation of an interactive quiz platform into my lesson. Witnessing my learners enthusiastically engage with the material in a playful and immediate manner was gratifying. The ability to gauge their comprehension in real time and adapt the lesson accordingly fostered a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
Surprisingly, I can say that I did not strongly disliked any elements of the online teaching platform. This does not mean that I did not face any challenges. Some challenges I found was initially navigating the online platform as it was something that I have not done previously. However I overcame this challenge prior to teaching my micro teaching lesson as I invested time in familiarising myself with the tools and platforms with fellow peers before hand. This undoubtedly contributed to the execution of my lesson, ensuring that any potential challenges were addressed and I had knowledge of how to go above fixing them if they came about.
The online teaching experience allowed for me to acquire new skills. Among them was the proficiency in using an interactive quiz platform other than the one I previously had knowledge one which was Kahoot. Additionally, I gained proficiency in navigating Blackboard Collaborate, as I stated before this is a platform that I have never presented a lesson on. As I engaged with my peers' lessons, I gained insights into the diverse range of approaches that can be implemented in the online teaching space. This exposure broadened my perspective and prompted me to reflect on my own teaching methodologies.
Considering the opportunity for improvement, if I were to revisit my online lesson, I would refine the sequencing of activities to ensure a seamless transition between activities. This would help maintain the momentum and engagement of the learners throughout the lesson.
I found that ending the lesson off with the worksheet may have been confusing to learners as this was the next phase of my lesson. Upon reflection I think that I should have just taught one phase of my lesson which in my case was the introduction instead of going into the teaching and learning phase after the introduction.
Throughout my online micro teaching lesson, I believe I made effective use of digital tools. The digital tools that I made use of included PowerPoint presentations and the Quizz platform which facilitated both visual appeal and interactivity, ensuring that my learners' attention was captivated throughout the lesson. The interactive quiz not only made the learning experience enjoyable but also served as a valuable introduction to the worksheet. This enabled learners to reflect on if they have a sound understanding of the concepts before moving on to the next phase of the lesson.
The micro-teaching experience has equipped me with the essential skills for 21st-century teaching. While initially the task of micro teaching was daunting it allowed for personal growth as an educator. As I learnt how to make use of a different approach to teaching. The skills that I learnt about diversifying resources, engaging learners remotely, and maintaining their active participation will influence my teaching practices in a traditional classroom setting.
In conclusion I believe that this experience has contributed positively towards my teaching practices. Integrating interactive quizzes engaged learners and adapting to new platforms enhanced my skills. I gained proficiency in diverse tools, reflecting on teaching methods as well as how I would approach teaching online differently should I need to do again.
Your honest reflection that highlights both your strengths and weaknesses in the online education space is truly admirable. I am so proud of your dedicaction to the educational space and gaining experience in all facets of the field. Keep gaining all the experience you can!

I admire how detailed your reflection on your blog is as it shows that you took the comments from your peers as well as learnt a lot from your own experiences. You did extremely well on your online lesson and I can tell how passionate you are for the teaching profession.
