Reflecting on the food drive I did at Weltevreden Park Primary school - I personally found it to be a success. The participation from the majority of the learners resulted in the collection effort of an impressive 2046 non-perishable food items being collected. Through diligent efforts, I managed to assemble 112 hampers, each packed with love to support families in need within the Weltevreden Park community. This outcome undoubtedly made a positive impact, not only within the school but also in our broader community, as these food hampers directly assist families who are an integral part of the school's community.
This food drive allowed me to see the generosity and compassion of families within the community. Initially, I had doubts about the ability to collect such a substantial number of food items, given our school's government-funded status. However, this experience has revealed the willingness of our learners to give and contribute in small amounts, even when resources may be limited. This project demonstrated that the Weltevreden Park community supports each other and a small effort for individuals goes a long way to a greater goal.
On a professional level, this service-learning component of teaching experience has allowed me to grow and develop valuable skills. I acquired new technological skills that proved invaluable in organising and promoting the food drive. Additionally, my presentation skills have improved significantly as I effectively communicated the project's purpose and goals to the teachers and learners throughout the school. Furthermore, my overall attitude towards community service has become more positive, instilling a sense of purpose and fulfilment in my educational journey.
There are many benefits of this initiative. It fostered a sense of unity and collective purpose among students, showcasing the power of teamwork and solidarity. By working together to provide for less fortunate families, Weltevreden Park Primary not only addressed immediate needs but also created a more compassionate and empathetic school environment. Regarding sustainability, the project's continued success can be ensured through ongoing commitment and participation from the school community in future food drive initiative. Encouraging a culture of giving and service can make this initiative a lasting tradition that benefits both our school and the wider community.
In conclusion, the food drive at Weltevreden Park Primary stands as a testament to its remarkable effectiveness, impact on my personal and professional growth, and contributions to the school and community. The children were incentivised with a civies day for the class that collected the most dry food items. Overall I believe that this initiative worked exceptionally well and am proud of the outcome.

Incredible! This is a successful social action project.
I love how you took the time to get to know the surrounding community at the school to see how you can best assist them with an initiative. Further to this, the insight into the giving nature of your community is heartwarming and emphasizes the impact of collective efforts. This type of service-oriented initiative not only showcases your growth but also sets an example for your students and fellow educators.
I'm so glad this expereince changed your initial outlok on the initiative. Well done!

Wow. 2046 food items is definitely a success! Well done!!! Your social action project was most definitely a huge success. Your reflection throughly outlines your experience with the social action project and comes across as meaningful and honest. You were able to engage all school stakeholders in the project and make a meaningful contribution to the charity which taught your children to give, respect and cherish what they have.
Well done on a successful social action project, Tyla! It is clear from your reflection that you were able to encourage enthusiasm within the learners, which resulted in a significant willingness to participate in a cause that serves those less fortunate than themselves. This is reflected in the impressive number of food items that were collected. You were able to involve all stakeholders in a common cause that not only made a difference during your time there, but can be sustained for years to come. Your reflection is detailed and well thought out. You can be very proud of yourself!
